Default Have you ever heard of a Vizslador?

Perhaps this should be linked to the very long and interesting debate on 'BBC1 prog on dogs'.

Yesterday I was out walking with Bish and I bumped into a family with three labs, two choccies and one yellow. At least that's what I thought. Well we got chatting as they were obviously admiring Bish's beauty (well who wouldn't) and it turns out that one of the labs was a cross between a chocolate lab and a vizsla. He was only 9 months old, very sweet and just looked like a leaner more leggy lab to me. On closer inspection I could see he had vizsla traits especially in his head and legs and he played just like a viz. He even had a hint of that saddle thing.

Apparently this combination is becoming quite popular and a lot are used as sniffer dogs by the ploice according to this vizslador owner. He got his pup from a breeder in London.

So Tania, what do you think about a new breed line of Roytan Vizsladors then?

Yeah, a while back a friend said to me she'd seen a Vizslador puppy over where we walk. I've not seen him myself but I think he was chocolate too.

    There's a reason they're called Vizslador's and not Labrasla's.

They are cute, my thought was lab's are known to eat anything and Vizsla's are very fussy eaters so does this mean that this new breed are normal eaters a mix of both?

Also I now find myself surfing the internet looking for pics of other breeds that have been mixed. I have to much time on my hands maybe i should extend my working hours!

Oh Lord, what have I started!!!

I also bumped into some people who had working labs and Bish and I managed to muscle in on a bit of their training. She wasn't bad actually, surprisingly, since I am a bit eratic with the gundog thing. Anyway, they had a 12 week old pup at home that's a cross between a cocker spaniel and a labrador. Guess what that's called. A 'cockador'! The mind boggles!

I am not a fan of designer crosses- especially when the main aim seems to be to create a funny name! Accidents have always happened and resulted in fabulous dogs, but they should not be fetching ?1000 + a pup. They rarely some from health tested, or even performance tested parents....Why create silly new 'breeds' when some of our most lovely breeds are in danger? why buy a labradoodle when you could have a curly coat?
Now, to lighten things up again....
