1998 CRUFTS BITCH CC
The peak of Sophie’s career (and mine) was winning the Bitch Challenge Certificate at Crufts in 1998 out of limit. Before that she had wins at Crufts, and at most major championship shows she has always placed.
She was Group 3 at Isle of Wight Gundog Show in 1998 and has been awarded many BOB and R BOB at open shows.
Although never fully trained as a gundog she has been picking up on our local shoot and acquitted herself well, contstantly finding and pointing, flushing out game that others have missed!
2005 Sophie thinks she is still 3 but is now gracefully retired
2006 Did I say 3? Try 2 !!
2007 At the grand age of 12 Sophie passes her KC Bronze Good Citizen Award!
2009 Sophie is 14 now and although her eyesight is failing and she seems to have ” selective hearing” the rest of her body keeps her fit and healthy.
2010 The going is getting a bit tough but Sophie still asks to come for a walk first thing in the morning and last thing at night. The heavy snow this January has made her feel disorientated and sometimes her wonderful scenting ability has been thwarted so I have to keep a very close eye on her. She is happy for a while longer……..

I was with her when she was born, and I was with her today as she left me behind. Sixteen years is a long old time to have such a good brave friend, and I shall miss her and all her funny ways. God bless Sophie.
