Roytan Gundogs

WOW!!! Today I had my Kennel Club Assessment for the Accredited Instructors Scheme in Working Gundogs and subject to the above I passed!!!It has taken me 8 long years to achieve and I am allowing myself to actually believe it this evening. The Assessment was carried out on my Wednesday morning class and carried on with the theoretical part (modules) till 5.30 pm so it has been a long day. Thank you so much to my two assessors, Paul Rawlings and Chris Bloomfield…I am one very proud and pleased bunny!

I cannot take credit for this! But Phoebe (Roytan Mimesis) and her daughter Niska (Roytan Slipstream for Kincsem) certainly can. Sarajane Rutherford bought “Niska” from me as a 7 week old puppy and went on to make her a full Champion of the breed , only the 11th Vizsla bitch in the whole country to gain this accolade. It means they have to be a Show Champion and also get placed in a Field Trial. Now Sarajane has bred, owned and trained Niska’s offspring “Kaiser” and rang me today to tell me that he too has gained Champion status. This is certainly a double whammy!. As an aside for all of you out there…Sarajane had never owned a dog before and Niska is still only 8 years old! My whole hearted congratulations go to you Sara and I applaud your capabilities. You certainly deserve it!

I heard from Wendy Harrison last night that she had to let go of her lovely “Crumble” Roytan Creme Caramel who very sadly suffered from liver cancer at the age of just 9 years. I know all too well what you must be going through Wendy but as people always say to me “remember the good times”. Crumble was the first Roytan Labrador to win a field trial and was a brilliant worker.(see page 19 , October 12, 2003) Wendy has the consolation of Crumble’s  daughter “Alice” and grandson “Coast” , who is already doing well.

Pleased to say that another good hip score has been published for Roytan Teddy Boy aka “Monte”. He has come through with a 5/5, one of Esme’s boys.

Very pleased to say that Killarney has delivered her pups. She has 4 girls and 6 boys, all different shades of yellow…and I’m keeping one!! Dad is Shoot Captains dog “Gunner”.

Today, Halley, (Roytan Hale- Bopp) went to her first show, The South of England Gundog Club at Maidstone. She won her Junior class, was awarded Best Puppy (9 months) and given Reserve Best of Breed! I think if lovely mum “Seven” could see her she would be very proud of her daughter, as am I.

Four “Roytans” gained awards yesterday at the annual KCGC assessment day.

Roytan Teddy Boy (aka Monte) and Roytan Kalamity (aka Lucy) were both awarded Bronze passes. Roytan Seven of Nine (aka Uma) was awarded Silver and Roytan Water Course (aka Edith) passed her GOLD!

Very well done to all of you!

Good news for owners Simon and Heidi Oliver is that “Monte”  (Roytan Teddy Boy) has tested clear for PRA.  Mum is Esme, Dad is Sika.

Roytan Madame aka Farah won VHC out of a huge class of 16 Veteran bitches. She will be 10 years old on April 9th! I am a very proud Mum. Beshlie ( Roytan Liberty) showed well enough but no prizes this time….maybe next year?
